I have been mostly working on my other blog, Southbridge Old Time Radio, as of late. It may be up in the air as to the direction of The Massachusetts Observer in the future. Of course, I have for quite a few years written about politics, local, state and national, primarily from a liberal perspective.
Perhaps it's my age that has led me to become far less concerned with these things, though I do try to keep up with the latest news. With just a few recent exceptions, I have not felt compelled to offer any personal comments on the current state of our politics.
So this is just a bit of a diversion and a post of material I do not post on the Southbridge Old Time Radio blog.
As my profile states, I am interested in old time radio, history, and music. With that in mind I have been looking at some of the old records, the 78s and even earlier, and making videos of them. These are all posted on You Tube.
The posting here is of two songs that I have awarded the Southbridge Old Time Radio Tacky Tune Award. Both songs have fairly catchy tunes, but they are horribly misguided in other ways.
The first, I'd like to Dunk You in My Coffee, is a love song that features cannibalism as a theme!
The second, The Sinking of the Titanic, deals with tragedy, of course, but the tune is happy and peppy. In addition, the rhymes are atrocious and the good Lord is blamed for causing the ship to sink!
I think they deserve the award. Perhaps you do too.
You can find all of the Southbridge Old Time Radio shows and songs on YouTube. I hope some of you will join the other subscribers in the fun.
